The Birth of Artificial Intelligence
Since the dawn of civilization, men encountered sophisticated dynamic problems in numerous fields, including economy and finance, production and industry, resources and energy, physics and astronomy, healthcare and medicine, etc. The solution to such problems (known as real-life problems) are vital to human’s survival and to the ascent of civilization. Hence the academics and experts throughout history, endeavored to develop methods to solve the above problems, which includes qualitative and logical methods, quantitative methods, mathematical reasoning, etc., that gave rise to the fields of exact sciences, engineering and some other academic fields.
The above-mentioned methods, proved effective but not sufficient.
The dynamic quality and complexity of the real-life problems prevented the relevant experts, to solve the same with the desired accuracy. In many occasions, the real-life problems, proved to be unsolvable. After centuries of research, in mid-20th century, scientists concluded that the real-life problems are nonlinear and are subject to varying behavior; hence it is self-evident that they are utterly unsolvable to an acceptable degree of accuracy and generalization using conventional methods. This inevitable conclusion, directed the research of scientists to new realms, including Artificial Intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence in a Nut Shell
The term “Artificial Intelligence” (also known as AI), was first coined by John McCarthy in 1956, when he held the first academic conference on the subject (the Dartmouth Conference).
"Artificial Intelligence, is the science and engineering of creating intelligent machines via combination of various proven programming techniques and precise advanced mathematical algorithms". The science behind an AI system is of a quite complex nature and understanding the same requires several academic and professional prerequisites and years of study, research and experience in computational sciences, applied mathematics and modern engineering. An AI expert system can model an extremely complex and dynamic situation, recognize and interpret the patterns and data (hidden to any expert), classify numerous amounts of information and make astonishingly precise decisions and predict the events before occurrence. Such systems can learn and enhance their intelligence through interactions with data and information.
Artificial Intelligence, is the only method known to man which can solve real-life problems, to a remarkable degree of accuracy.
The Age of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence systems are able to solve the most sophisticated real-life problems which have remained unsolvable throughout the human history, in various fields such as economy, finance, industry, science, society, healthcare, etc.
The fascinating applications and advantages of AI in every field of interest, have duly motivated and inclined the national authorities (worldwide) to pursue, initiate, execute and advance programs for development of Artificial Intelligence and its applications in their respective nations.
The global architects of policies, are duly confident that a major index in the progress, development and the worldwide influence of each country is determined via their advancement in Artificial Intelligence and its relevant applications. Henceforth, the industrialized and developed countries have initialized various programs for the above intention.
